Is anyone reading your (church) emails?
2 minute read
In a world of endless content and constant noise, your church's weekly email shouldn't be another thing people scroll past. It should feel like a breath of fresh air, a story that draws people in, encourages their walk with Jesus, and reminds them they belong.
That’s where the 3+1 Email Strategy comes in.
Here’s the breakdown:
Weeks 1-3:
Focus on a story.
People want to hear about real-life transformation, behind-the-scenes impact, a volunteer highlight, or how someone took a step in faith and found community. These stories don’t have to be long, just real. Use this space to build relationships and reflect the heart of your church.
Week 4:
Event Round Up.
This is your one email a month where you share what’s coming up, but keep it simple. List no more than 3 – 5 key events. Anything more and people tune out. This week’s email is about making next steps easy and clear. You’re going to be tempted to list more events, but resist the urge!
Why this works:
Too many church emails try to do everything. They promote every event, every ministry, every opportunity. When we try to capture everyone, we often capture no one. This strategy shifts the focus from announcements to impact. From “here’s what we’re doing” to “here’s why it matters.”
When people see the life change happening in your church, they’re more likely to want to be a part of it. The goal isn’t just attendance, it’s connection. And this rhythm helps your emails consistently drive that.
Try the 3+1 strategy and watch your email engagement grow. We’ve worked with churches whose open and click through rates have increased 30 plus percent in less than a couple months, not because they said more, but because they said what mattered.
